Job Summary

Our electrical service department is on an aggressive growth trajectory and we are looking for the right candidate to join our team. This position contributes to the success of the company by effectively and efficiently selling and managing projects in multiple markets to include commercial, mission critical, healthcare, government, science and technology, industrial, and education.

Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Sells and manages projects, and conducts a full review to enhance existing services to address our customers’ needs. Typical projects range in size from $20k - $1MM and are sold both, through general contractors and direct to the customer from P1.  
  2. Fields customer questions, resolves complaints, and anticipates customer needs based on a strong understanding of their business.
  3. Utilizes CRM software to record and track all sales efforts from start to finish.
  4. Customer Relations: sustains a supportive working relationship with customers and prospects to include monitoring their satisfaction with P1’s performance. Promptly addresses concerns to assure resolution of problems and to maintain long-term positive relationships.
  5. Project Management:
    1. Works with vendors to select equipment and materials.
    2. Procures project materials and equipment.    
    3. Conducts project start-up and turnover meetings with appropriate P1 staff to communicate the project bid documents, estimates, and contract documents.
    4. Monitors the billing and collection process to ensure timely, accurate payments and collections.
  6. Proposals: Performs customer site visits to determine needs and develop a scope of work that satisfies the owner’s project requirements. Identifies problems and proposes cost-effective solutions.
    1. Surveys systems and understands prospect’s needs and problems. Interprets drawings, equipment, and job conditions.
    2. Determines requirements to provide prospects with solutions to problems.
    3. Pricing: Estimates cost of proposed solutions and applies company pricing standards to the estimate. Reviews estimates and proposals with supervisor.
    4. Account Expansion: Understands customer cost to own, operate, and maintain facilities. Translates that understanding into proposals and sales that will enhance the customer while reducing long-term owning and operating costs.
    5. Develops proposals and quotes. Presents proposal/quote to customer. Closes sales contracts.

Qualifications and Skills

  1. High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  2. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years full-time work experience in a role overseeing electrical projects. General contractors or managers overseeing sub-contractors do not meet this requirement.
  3.  Knowledge of commercial and industrial HVAC systems is a plus.
  4. Sales experience in a technical industry is preferred but not required.
  5. Must be able to satisfactorily pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
  6. Must be able to satisfactorily pass a motor vehicle record check.  Must be able to meet P1 qualifications to operate a vehicle on company business. Must be at least 18 years of age.  Must possess a valid driver’s license.  Must have access to drive a well maintained vehicle.  Must have up to date registration with the local Department of Motor Vehicles.  Both the candidate and the vehicle must be currently covered on a personal insurance policy.
  7. Ability to develop and foster mutually beneficial professional relationships, both internally and externally. 
  8. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. 
  9. Understanding of mechanical or electrical (as appropriate) systems
  10. Computer proficiency – specifically, MS Office:  Word, Excel, PowerPoint required. 
  11. Strong organizational skills required, as well as ability to handle multiple projects sales campaigns and prioritize.
  12. Must have good time management skills and ability to meet firm deadlines.
